is a non-profit, non-governmental international humanitarian and development organization, registered in the United States and Scotland with offices in more than 40 countries around the world, including the West Bank and Gaza, where the organization has been active in implementing relief and development programs for over a decade. Mercy Corps ‘West Bank and Gaza’ has staff based in East Jerusalem and Gaza City offices that implement programs throughout the Palestinian territories.

Mercy Corps is currently implementing Cash for Work Program (CfW) funded by ARD/CEP, which aims to provide temporary employment opportunities to individuals from vulnerable families, and also the provision of much needed services to the broader community such as education after school program, renovation and beautification for public facilities beside helping farmers and fishermen. CfW program is implemented in Middle and Khan Younis Governorates, and this position will support these ongoing activities.

Mercy Corps is currently recruiting for the following position based in its Gaza office:

Duration: 4 months with possibility of extension.

Main Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will work directly with the Project Officer and Program Manager to ensure timely coordination between community organizations and other local stakeholder groups for effective implementation of the project and to perform the following tasks:
  1. Supervise work group leaders and oversee the day to day efforts of work groups in order to ensure the work is done in a systemic way and according to plans and specifications by conducting daily field visits to all ongoing work project-sites
  2. Certification of time sheets of workers as prepared by group leaders and the finalization of monthly worker payroll.
  3. Develop and maintain good relation with Community committees, as well as work closely with CCs to identify suitable work projects / activities to be implemented.
  4. Work closely with Program Officer and other MC program staff on scheduling of materials and labor for each work project.
  5. Implement projects as planned according to developed schedules and timelines.
  6. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports of the project activities.
  7. Assist in the evaluation of the project.
  8. Assist in planning baseline surveys and collecting baseline data.
Qualifications:
  1. University degree in Development studies, Project Management, or other relevant filed.
  2. Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  3. Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure
  4. Proficiency in MS Office
  5. Very Good written and verbal English and Arabic skills.
  6. Initiative, self-reliant and cooperative.
  7. Excellent ability to work under pressure and carry out multiple tasks.
  8. Gaza Strip resident
